Rope Safety Guide
Safety First!Keep in mind that as with anything in BDSM it is done on the basis of consent and trust. Bondage is never risk-free. It is important to learn about how you can reduce and manage risk. In order to manage risk, you need to understand them and make choices that are within your own personal tolerance.
With basic rope bondage, there are a few things to note:
- Communication! Always be talking. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, say something. Even in the simplest of tying or binding, you should always check up on your partner to make sure they feel safe and are experiencing pleasure from it.
- There are very sensitive and fragile zones. Please make yourself familiar with them by looking at safety guides (TheDuchy.com has a great one which I linked below). You should never do any bondage tie that would compromise your neck area (for very logical reasons). Wrist cuffs should never be too tight since there is a lot of nerves and blood vessels near the skin on the inside. You do not want to cut circulation! Make sure you can always fit a finger or two underneath the ties you are making. I personally go for two fingers. This way your partner is delightfully restrained and not getting hurt!
- Do not leave your partner unattended while tied up. This is a trusting act you are doing together and they should feel safe at all times!
- Keep scissors with you at all times in case you can't undo a knot or your partner would like to be let free quickly. Medical sheers are easy to acquire and can cut through any rope. Please do not use a knife.
